Privacy

Wallet & Plate helps you find affordable meals near you. You don't need an account. We don't sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. Limited service providers process information as needed to operate the site.
Your location (optional)
- We only ask for your location when you tap Near me. Your browser shows the permission prompt; you can say no and pick a neighborhood or ZIP code instead.
- If you allow location access, your exact location is rounded on your device to two decimal degrees—roughly 1 km—before it is sent. The rounded coordinates may appear in the page address, browser history, shared links and short-lived hosting logs. We don't save them in our database or build a location history.
- To turn it off, block location for walletandplate.com in your browser or phone settings. Clear your browsing history to remove past searches.
Address and ZIP search
When you type an address or ZIP code, it is sent to our server to find the spot on the map. ZIP codes are looked up in our own data. Other addresses are looked up through OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service; the request comes from our server, not your device, and contains only the text you typed. Typed addresses aren't saved in our database; our server may briefly keep recent lookups in memory (up to 10 minutes) to avoid repeat requests. The resulting coordinates are rounded to two decimal degrees before they appear in the page address.
Stored on your device
The site saves a few small things in your browser, which stay in your browser:
- your saved restaurants,
- your price and calorie filters for the current session,
- whether you dismissed the "install app" banner and your cookie choice,
- copies of pages you've viewed, so the app works offline.
Clearing your browser's site data removes all of this.
Maps
Map images come from OpenStreetMap. To load them, your browser connects directly to OpenStreetMap's servers, which see your IP address and the map area you're viewing. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
Analytics and ads
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages and features are useful, such as restaurant page views and taps on Directions, Menu or Save. Google Analytics sets cookies only after you choose Accept on the cookie banner; if you choose Decline or make no choice, it doesn't load.
- IP addresses are anonymized, and Google signals and ad personalization are turned off.
- We don't send your location, typed addresses, or other personal details. Events include only restaurant details (name, cuisine, city) and, for links we share, campaign tags.
- Google processes this data as our service provider; see Google's privacy policy.
- You can change your choice at any time: . You can also clear site data or block cookies in your browser.
We don't use ad trackers or third-party advertising.
If you email us, we use your message and email address only to reply and to fix the site. We don't add you to any mailing list.
Children
Wallet & Plate is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
